About Monster Truck

Monster Truck Gallery and Studios was set up by Peter Prendergast and Colm Mac Athlaoich in 2006. MTG&S is an artist run project that supports 8 artists studios and two exhibition spaces in the center of Dublin city.

The project grew as a support network for artists and gave a huge amount of artists the opportunity to create work in our studios and have exhibitions in the shop front gallery space. It grew well beyond our expectations. Surprising considering at the time we had no expectation for it and the only desire was to react to what seemed like an endless flow of creatives who wanted to make work, have exhibitions and make things happen.

By the time 2010 is  over we will have facilitated 120 exhibitions and supported well over 400 full time professional artists both graduate, emerging and established. All artists and exhibitions were selected by our piers and the grass routes of the Irish visual arts. Both the exhibiting artists and Monster Truck’s teams have worked tirelessly over the last 4 years to make art happen in the city and this project is a testament to all our efforts.

As such MTG&S can say it is proud of its contribution to the visual-art community in Ireland. MTG&S is also socially inclusive and we have continually exceeded our own and others expectations. Our work with numerous artists, artist groups, curators and arts professionals, our off-site exhibitions and our continued desire to work with and champion other organisations, has proven our desire to remain true to, and our ability to deliver on, the values of our original mission.

In June 2010 the gallery moved to number 4 Temple Bar, Dublin 2. The story continues….
